Dear Comrades,
PENSIONERS DAY. 17.12.2021
As you all know,
the Pensioner community in India observers 17th December, as the Pensioners day. This is to commemorate the historical Supreme
Court Judgement in D.S. Nakara and others vs. Union of India. That judgement became historical and assumed
the status of magna carta for the very many issues settled setting aside all
wrong notions about pension and pensioner community. The judgement categorically stated that there
cannot be a mini classification within the class of Pensioners especially on
the basis of a specified date. It said
emphatically that pension is not a gratis and assumes the meaning and content
of a deferred wage. It became an
alienable right after the judgements. If
the present day pensioners especially in civil service has enjoyed the fruits
of pension revision through various Pay Commissioners, it is only because of
the said historic judgement. The very
concept of contributory pension scheme was evolved and implemented was with the
main purpose of circumventing this historic judgement.
On
this this day, it is therefore appropriate to observe as a solemn dedication and vow to fight along
with our younger comrades in service the pernicious scheme of contributory
pension scheme introduced only to please the IMF master.
The
AIPRPA as already informed you to all has arranged for a webinar today to bring home the various important
observations of the judgement. Kindly
take part in it and enrich yourself to dedicate yourself in the ongoing
struggles.
Pension for a
dignified life is the world slogan raised on Ist October, 2021. Let us repeat
it and reiterate it.
With
greetings,
Yours fraternally,
KKN Kutty.
Secretary General.
